# Video Localization Brief Template

A video localization brief specifies the source cut, target audience, voice permissions, pronunciation, subtitle requirements and the export to review. Use this free template before dubbing a clip or translating an entire video library.

Use it for training, product demos, interviews or campaign videos. A voiceover, a visible-speaker dub and a subtitle-only release need different checks, even when the source script is the same.

## Make the voice, timing and review decisions first

The sample is a fictional 45-second product setup video. It requests a narrated voiceover, not a cloned speaker. The reviewer checks the device instruction, pronunciation and rendered captions before release.

Source cut and script
Luma setup video v3, 45 seconds. Approved transcript v2. Source language en-US.Freeze the cut or identify which scenes can still change.

Target locale and audience
Spanish (es-MX), first-time device owners, mobile viewers.Audience and viewing conditions affect delivery and captions.

Voice approach and permissions
Licensed narrated voiceover; no cloned voice requested. If that changes, obtain speaker authorization and confirm the intended use before processing.Do not treat an uploaded recording as proof of consent.

Terms and pronunciation
Keep Luma One unchanged; use the approved product pronunciation reference. Confirm charging-port terminology with the product reviewer.Review an ambiguous or important term in a short scene first.

Timing, captions and export
Voiceover must fit the approved scene timing. Deliver a 16:9 master plus captions; review a separate 9:16 layout if requested. No lip-sync needed for the screen recording.Specify actual aspect ratios and text treatments for each deliverable.

Review owners and pilot scene
Review seconds 10–20 first. Local language reviewer checks speech; product owner checks instructions; video editor checks timing and the final caption render.A short pilot can reveal a mistake before it is repeated across the library.

## How to use the template well

### Decide whether the mouth needs to match

A visible presenter may benefit from lip-sync. A narrated software recording often does not. Choose the treatment for the viewer's experience, not because every available feature needs to appear in the job. A subtitle-only version can also be the right release.

### Make a small, difficult pilot

Pick a scene with the product name, a long sentence and a meaningful visual cue. A silent opening logo tells you little about the dub. Ask the reviewers to check pronunciation, meaning, pace and alignment on that scene before applying the approach to every language.

### Review what resizing and rendering changed

A vertical crop can remove translated text from a wide master. Burned-in captions can cover a product label. Watch the final video with the sound on and off, then check the version intended for each channel. The approved script alone cannot catch these problems.

## Questions about this template

What do I need before dubbing a video?

Prepare the source cut, an approved transcript, target locales, pronunciation guidance, voice-use permissions and a review plan. Specify caption and export requirements before the final render.

Does every localized video need a cloned voice?

No. A licensed voiceover, subtitles or a new recording may be more suitable. Use voice cloning only with the necessary authorization and a clear agreement on how the voice will be used.
