## The cohort

In July 2023 Google announced the seventh class of its Google for Startups Accelerator in India, and for the first time built the cohort entirely around generative AI. Twenty startups were selected. Vitra.ai was among them.

Google's own announcement describes Vitra.ai as translating videos, images, podcasts and text into 75+ languages with one click. Accelerator companies work with Google mentors on machine learning and cloud infrastructure alongside product and go-to-market support. For a company whose product is a generative model pipeline running at enterprise volume, the machine learning mentorship is the substantive part.

## Why it mattered for Vitra.ai

Selection arrived at a useful moment. Vitra.ai was mid-way through the shift from a video translation tool to a broader content platform, and the engineering questions at that point were about inference cost, throughput and quality control at scale rather than about the core translation model. Those are precisely the constraints an accelerator with deep infrastructure expertise can help with.
