> **Quick answer —** Paid social exhausts creative faster than budget, and testing needs volume to be meaningful. Generation supplies variants per audience, placement and market from one master, with brand rules held constant across all of them.[Vitra.ai Universe](https://www.vitra.ai/platform) generates, adapts and translates the whole set.

## Creative is the constraint

Budget is rarely what caps a performance programme. Fatigue is. A winning ad decays over a few weeks, the algorithm wants fresh inputs, and the team can produce four new concepts a month. So the account runs on stale creative and the cost per acquisition climbs while everybody looks at the bidding.

Volume is the fix, and volume by hand is not available.

## What actually needs to vary

Not everything, and this is where programmes waste effort.

Dimension

Vary it

Note

Placement and ratio

Always

Same idea, framed for the surface

Headline and offer

Always

The cheapest real test available

Product shown

By audience

Feed-driven, from the catalogue

Market language

Always, per market

Including text inside the image

Brand marks and palette

Never

The thing being tested is the message

Holding the last row fixed is what makes the rest safe to automate. [Image creation](https://www.vitra.ai/features/image-creation) conditioned on a brand kit generates against your fonts, palette and logo rather than approximating them.

## Test at a scale where the result means something

Four variants tell you almost nothing. Differences that size are noise until spend accumulates, and by then the creative is tired. Forty variants across a couple of axes gives a signal inside a week. That is not a creative-quality argument — it is arithmetic about how many impressions a difference needs before it is real.

Generate the set, run it, keep the two that work, and generate the next set around what they had in common.

## Markets, and the part that gets forgotten

Translating ad copy is easy. The text inside the creative is the part that gets missed, and a Spanish caption over an English banner is worse than leaving it in English.

[Image translation](https://www.vitra.ai/features/image-translation) handles the in-image text, and [image personalization](https://www.vitra.ai/features/image-personalization) resizes the result for each placement so a market launch is one job rather than one job per format.

Where the offer itself differs by region — a festival promotion, a local payment method, a shipping threshold — [hyperlocal marketing](https://www.vitra.ai/features/hyper-personalization) adapts the message rather than translating a message written for somewhere else.

Keep every rendered variant addressable. The winner from March is the starting point in September, and only if somebody can still find it.

Where this sits against the rest of the stack is covered in [AI for e-commerce](https://www.vitra.ai/e-commerce/ai-for-e-commerce).

## FAQ

**How many ad creative variants are needed to test properly?** Enough that a difference clears the noise, which is usually dozens rather than a handful. Four variants rarely separate before the creative fatigues, so the test finishes without producing a usable answer.

**What should stay fixed when generating ad variants?** Brand marks, palette and typography. Those are not the variable under test, and holding them constant is what makes automated variation safe to run without a review on every file.

**Why does ad creative stop working after a few weeks?** Audience fatigue and platform preference for fresh inputs. Performance decays even when targeting and bidding are unchanged, so a programme needs a supply of new creative rather than a better single ad.

**What gets missed when running ads in another language?** The text inside the image. Ad copy is a field and gets translated; a headline baked into the banner does not, and a translated caption over an untranslated creative reads worse than leaving it alone.
